mike wieringo

went to post this last night but realized i didn't want to be the one who broke the news...

i just got a call from todd.

he told me that mike passed away of a cardiac arrest.

he was only 44.

and easily one of the nicest and most talented, creative people i've had the honor of calling a good friend. he will be sorely missed.

This is incredibly sad news. I don't think I've met many people at cons quite as nice as Mike. He was the best.

Truly a shock, the worst kind of news one can get. We'll never have another one like Mike, one of the all-time greats: as an artist, as a friend, as a compassionate human being.

Ringo's talents as an artist were eclipsed only by his warmth towards avery fan he came in contact with. We, who knew only his work, admired him. You who knew him, loved him. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Mike did work that he loved and he got to do it with his best friend. In Tellos, he and Todd created a wonderful tale that ranks up there amongst the finest fantasy stories and will, I believe, stand the test of time.

We are the first generation who had the privilege of enjoying Mike's brilliance, but we will not be the last.
