love me some harry potter!

okay, so first off... tough coupla baseball games to watch this weekend (taking one of three... not so good, and certainly won't be good enough come play-offs...), crazy week with the patriots (solid win on sunday... shame all this is going to bring into question all the wins and championships)...

okay, on to other stuff... another commission a long time coming - over at his way cool site (http://digitalmedusa.com/sgettis/word/) , steven gettis collects pieces from artists interpreting their favorite literary figures/authors/characters... thought about it for a long time and didn't have a great idea (that wasn't already done)... but lately, i've been listening to audio books on audio cd while working (certainly less distracting than tv), and just got through the first harry potter...

... hence, severus snape (who, as the series progresses, becomes one of the most complicated of the bunch)...

and as things often go, i got it in my head to do more ... and the next one had to be dumbledore (i'll get to ron, hermoine, and harry in due time...and maybe a few more, we'll see)...

well, both kids are waking up from long naps (johnny's been loving his first few days of pre-school - we'll see if it lasts), so i'm off!

Great sketches Craig. I'm a big HP fan myself. Also Steve Gettis has got one the best sketch collections I've seen. Amazing stuff.

C,

Nice to see that your renditions have not been influenced by the HP movies.

Oh my, those are incredible Craig. Steve is a lucky guy.

As for the Pat's and the sign stealing controversy, glad to see it didn't bother the team on the field. Also, having seen the tape, it's clear that it is designed to help decipher the other teams signs and it's equally clear from the three guys on the Jet's sideline all sending in different signals, that stealing signs is a long standing part of the game. If it weren't there would be no need to take such extreme counter measures.

That said, the way Coach Bill went about it was against the rules, and the punishment has been delt out. Personally, I can't see how one can get any significant advantage as even if you figure out the other teams signs, you still won't be sure which guy on the sideline is sending in the real signal and there isn't a heck of a lot of time between plays when you get down to it.

Still, Bill is no fool, so there must be some advantage, otherwise he wouldn't be doing it, especially after the Commissioner specifically reminded teams about the rule this year.

It doesn't take the shine off those three Superbowls for me and it looks like this whole thing has fired the team up so I'm looking forward to a heck of a year.

Craig, those are amazing! Absolutely love them. Suze and I are huge HP fans and I envy Steve those commissions.

As for your Patriots...my Packers beat 'em in the SuperBowl!!! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

et tu Toronto? We've been in first place since May...are we going to blow it and maybe sneak in as the Wild Card?

I've never actually read them... but the sketches are nice.

Matt,

That Packers vs. Patriots Superbowl was a tough one to take. Fortunately, the Pats eventually game through big time for us fans taking three Superbowls in a span of four years and all three were exciting, close hard fought games rather than the boring blowouts that way too many Superbowls turn into.

Craig, I just saw your artwork in the commercial for the new Smallville DVD set. Cool little moment.

BTW...can you do something about that pea soup green on your home page? Maybe something a little bit more tasteful???

like i toldja, i'm so happy to see that your dumbledore has a hint of richard harris in him. the wise mage who is young at heart and knows how everything is going to work out all in advance. kind, caring, and always full of love.
i think, michael gambon, while a fine actor, don't know dumbledore.

these are great!
how about doing, i dunno, harry and hermione next?

Excellent Snape, old bean. Keep up the good work, I say.

Craig,

Those are great. I klove that you've made the characters your own, and not let the movies influence you. Especially with Snape. Alan Rickman was always in the back of my mind for that character. And after seeing him on screen, I can't picture him any other way.

Also, the Perhaps Lost Cover look amazing. It's a great idea, and you just made them astonishing.
