back from charlotte!

... had a great time at one of my favorite shows. plenty of time to hang out with 'ringo and todd and scott (heck, we probably coulda just skipped the show and hung out all weekend and had just as much fun...) and catch up with folks i see once or twice a year (always a good time at the bar, and was great to just hang out with ralph and shoot the breeze), not to mention getting a chance to see "superman returns" ... wow.

jeff amano had some advance copies of the cobbler's monster, so i got a chance to see the final product (damn, wayne and guilia made my stuff look good!)...

was glad to keep real busy sketching ALL weekend (right up until 5.30 on sunday.... phew) doing both black/white and canson color pieces (wish i had scans of 'm to post, some came out pretty good...) for plenty of great folks and friends...

did manage to get up and check out some of the art around the show... always inspiring/intimidating seeing all that great work... but it was great motivation to get back to the 'haps... which is where i'm heading right now! (not to mention todd and i talked a few folks into doing pin-ups for the next trade... and beyond!)

hope everybody had a good fourth (and wasn't TOO crazy, ray)

Hey Craig,

Glad to hear you had a great time at the show and got to see the Superman Returns special screening. I'll have to keep my eye out on CAF to see if any of your con pieces show up.

Also, good news on the Cobbler's Monster. I've got my copy on order at Ye Olde LCBS and am looking forward to reading it.

So, now for the big question of the con . . . .

did you get a chance to . . . .

meet Rosario Dawson?

Damn, last time I was in Charlotte was 1998 and I drove down from Chicopee to Queens, NY, piled into a car with the guys from Crusade and drove for 14 hours...including a flat tire, one guy who was sick, one guy who didn't have a license and some hot, hot weather. Had a great show but then we had another 14 hours in an overnight drive with sick guy completely unable to drive so Peter C and I split the driving chores. Nice people in Charlotte and I loved the southern girl accent, but never, ever again in a car for 14 hours.
I vaguely remember Mike W, Eric Powell and Ed McGuiness. My writer at the time, Tom (Vampirella) Sniegoski and I had just started publishing through Tucci and his Crusade imprint and we were shopping our stuff around trying to get a TV or movie deal.
Damn, such a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Craig, I hate I didn't find you on Saturday. I went by Ringo's table and got one of his sketchbooks (it rocks!) but missed you. Dang! How did I do that. Maybe next year.
