"two fer" tuesday

one of the great things about being in new england here is the changing of the seasons... spring is back and all the trees are starting to bloom (and the kids can play outside again)...

got to see a good game up at fenway ... ugly first inning from dice-k... 5 (runs on 2 hits? ouch.) but it got better.

had a good time up at jetpack comics on free comic book day ... and then spending a few hours at my local shop on sunday.

work moves along on commissions and the dc licensing gig... who knows, maybe i'll get motivated and start contacting editors at dc and marvel again soon...

here's another piece i did for hitoshi and his most impressive collection (check it out on the comic art fans gallery... sorry i don't have the link handy)...

so, there's an end in sight for lost... good for the storytelling, i think. (this season really bounced back after an uneven start... so did 24, to a lesser degree...) season (and series) finales are on the way in the next few weeks, looks to be some good tv.

Craig,

Another fantastic canson piece! Sorry I missed you on FCBD, but we had other destinations in mind that day. Got a great Chynna Clugston sketch in Worcester. Not as nice as the Frank Espinosa sketch I got the next day at the Boston show, but still very nice.

And you got totally neglected in this week's TV Guide. There's an article about the Smallville comic/promotional game, along with art, but no mention of who did the art...

Hey Craig,

Glad you enjoyed the game despite the ugly first inning. A win is a win as they say. I hope the Dice man can work out these one inning brain freezes he's been having.

I heard an interesting theory on the issue. Back in Japan he was the Big Kahuna, so he, like Pedro, Clemens and Maddox over here, was probably used to getting the benefit of the doubt from the umpire. Here, however, he's the new kid on the block, so may not get the respect from the umpires that he's used to and it may be throwing him off his feed.

Also, I think he gets a little too shy with the strike zone when he gets up in the count on a batter. I think he has good enough stuff to go after a guy and should do so rather than nibbling around the plate.

As for FCBD, I was down in Harrisburg for my nephew's First Holy Communion, so I missed out on all the festivities.

Did Todd make it up the Jetpack?

TV Update:

Things are looking up for Veronica Mars.

Reports are that the powers that be at the CW like the idea of revamping the show by fast forwarding Veronica to the FBI Academy next season.

No word yet on whether or not it will be picked up, but given that the CW already has canceled Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven, they have a little wiggle room in their schedule.
