baltimore!

had a great time in baltimore... saw a sox game on friday night, met lots of great fans, sold a slew of sketchbooks and 'haps lost covers portfolios (both will be available on line real soon...!) as well as got to spend time with old (and new) friends...

todd and i had our better halves with us this time, and both trish and sharon had fun as well (when not getting stopped by baltimore's finest for not leaving a proper tip - all said and done, we had left about a 15% tip as opposed to the stated 20% after a less than stellar dining (and restaurant staff) experience... but it worked out okay in the end - so, folks, remember to double check your menus for "gratuities added for parties of six or more" (which wasn't on this restaurant's menu), and also that a "gratuity" is not a "service charge", which isn't disputable)... which is funny, since we think nothing of tipping 20-25% for good service... oh, well, certainly makes for a good con story, i suppose...

the weekend was dedicated to the memory of 'ringo (including raising money for the humane society (or aspcsa... i keep getting'm mixed up) a great night of billiards with fellow creators and friends)...

here's a coupla commissions i did for folks before the show...

Hey Craig!

It was great to meet you! I had a blast at the show, it was my first actual comic convention, I've only ever been to a few horror ones they have here in dirty jersey, but they're usually not that exciting. The show was great though. Everyone I got to meet were awesome and gracious. I will def. go to this show from now on. I wanted to chat a little more but you seemed so swamped the few times I swung by, and even when I had you sign my books. But it was great, thanks for everything! And hope to get to run into you again!

Wow, which restaurant was that Craig? I tell ya, ever since they started gentrifying the Harbor Baltimore more gets less and less fun.

Love that Gwen! I never get tired of your Canson drawings.

Yeah, the restaurant scene is a little weird down in the inner harbor. My roomie for the weekend, Steve, and I went into Uno's, put our names in and were told it would be about 5 minutes. A waitress came up to us shortly thereafter and took us to a table in the bar area. A little after that, the gal from the front came over to our table to let us know they were calling our name. We both looked a little dumbfounded and told her the waitress had sat us here. Apparently the bar waitress had "stolen" us from the dining room.

Looking forward to the site revamp.

Glad you and your wife had a good time, Craig! One of these days I'll get out to that Con (fingers crossed).

Lovely ladies in your commission pieces, also! You're a true talent my friend, true talent.

Craig,

I was just glad nobody was arrested. Especially me... ;-) I've never before had anyone point out a group I was in, and say to the police, "That's them." Sort of surreal, eh? =)

Seriously though, it was fun to be able to hang out, and I really enjoyed meeting Trish. You know the drill, but anytime you guys are in the Philly area, you'll have a place to stay if you want it.

Looking forward to the next occasion!

Best,
Rich

Okay, somebody actually called the cops because of a tip? What the fuh? Maybe restaurants should start paying their staff so the customers don't have to. Absolutely ridiculous.

yeah, but rich ... wouldn't that make for a GREAT con story?

Craig, Too true, but I think the one we have is pretty good (and no casualties!). I just wouldn't tell it without Trish's permission. I've seen what she can do! ;-)

Best,
Rich

Craig, it was great to get to talk to you this year, even though we arranged the Gwen last Baltimore! It really was nice getting to talk to both you and Todd (who I'd never talked with prior) you guys are really nice, and a class act! Once things settle down from school in about a week, I'll be able to jump into the 'haps books I picked up! Thanks again for doing this Gwen for me. I love it, and it was well worth the wait! I just hope I didn't bother you too much by dropping by so much to ogle it before finally taking it with me! Hope to see you again :)

Craig,
It was awesome meeting you. Thanks again for the J is for Jarek sketch. I'm so glad that the turnout and fundraising for Mike was so successful. It was amazing to see how many people, both fans and creators, he inspired with his work.
Hope to see you again soon,
Mike
